Overview

Technologies

All IPVS systems share the following six major components:Networked cameras are one of the six major components of IPVS.

  • Networked cameras
  • The Ethernet network, including fiber or cable, and switches
  • The PC-based server computer(s)
  • Software that runs on the server so it operates as the system Network Video Recorder, or NVR
  • Standard disks, organized as a RAID array for increased reliability
  • Standard PCs to control the system and access the stored video

Site Security 360 IPVS systems are built from name-brand hardware and software components, such as IBM, HP, Cisco, Axis, Sony and Milestone. The systems operate using a large class of open standards, starting with the Internet Protocol (IP) running on Ethernet or Fibre. Reliability is built in by the use such proven technologies such as SNMP, Uninterruptable Power Supplies (UPS), and Redundant Arrays of Independent Disks (RAID).

Sophisticated software analytics now provide the following technologies as standard, off-the-shelf system modules:

  • License plate recognition
  • Virtual trip wire for perimeter protection
  • Vehicle size, direction and speed determination
  • Loitering detection
  • Missing or abandoned item detection
  • People counting
  • Wrong direction of travel detection
  • Covert surveillance
  • Wireless cameras
  • Non-line-of-sight wireless locations
  • High-bandwidth, long-distance wireless networking
  • Mixed video and data on customer’s existing network
  • Web-based video monitoring, both private and public
  • Camera video feed and camera control on field PDAs
  • Rule-based alerts
  • Automatic email, IM, phone and paging alert notification
